GREEN VILLA OR GREEN BUILDING CERTIFICATION?
Which Program is Right for You?

The IGLA Residential “Tropical Green Building” Certification Program was developed in 2008. This program was developed primarily to encourage the construction of environmentally responsible and sustainable residences that are in harmony and balance with St. John’s awesome natural beauty! This program’s major emphasis is to provide environmental guidelines and recommendations for the site planning and physical construction of residences. Certification under this program is most appropriate for private residences and it is also applicable for rental villas.

The 1000+ rental villas and private residences and their occupants have a huge environmental footprint on St. John. Rental villas are the primary focus of this program.
