Susan Parten is a professional civil-environmental engineer with over thirty years of experience with research and engineering design projects, and is a licensed civil engineer in Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has a Baccalaureate of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Health Engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Baccalaureate of Arts in Spanish from the University of Missouri (KC).
Parten has served as project manager and/or principal investigator for state and federally funded grants and studies, including a two-year nationwide study. As a research engineer, she has handled all aspects of projects, including concept development, project implementation and management. Her engineering design experience includes both centralized and decentralized waste management systems, water systems, appropriate infrastructure and management practices for water quality protection, and coordination and participation on engineering project teams for sustainable development.
